The United Arab Emirates



The United Arab Emirates has achieved the impossible for other countries. It has achieved an economic revolution like no other. The best example of this is Dubai, which surpasses the most beautiful and advanced cities in Europe. So, we chose for today the dazzling state of the United Arab Emirates to get acquainted with it historically and geographically in this article.

 The population of the United Arab Emirates is about 4,975,593 (July 2010 estimates), and its capital is Abu Dhabi. The United Arab Emirates shares borders with Oman and Saudi Arabia, and has an area of ​​about 32,278 square miles (83,  600 square km), with a coastline of nearly 819 miles (1,318 km), and the highest point in the United Arab Emirates is at the summit of Jebel Liber at 5,010 feet (1,527 m).

 The United Arab Emirates is a country located on the eastern side of the Arabian Peninsula. It has coastlines along the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. The United Arab Emirates shares borders with Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman. It is also located near the State of Qatar. The United Arab Emirates is the union that  Originally formed in 1971, it is known as one of the wealthiest and most developed countries in Western Asia.

 According to the US State Department, the UAE was originally formed by a group of sheikhs that lived in the Arabian Peninsula along the coasts of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and it is known that these sheikhs were always in conflict with each other and as a result there were constant raids  On ships the area was called the Pirate Coast by merchants in the seventeenth and early nineteenth centuries.

 In 1820, a peace treaty was signed by the sheikhs of the region in order to protect shipping interests along the coast, however the raids of ships continued until 1835, and in 1853 a treaty was signed between the sheikhs and the United Kingdom establishing a permanent maritime armistice (US Department of State)  .

 In 1892, the United Kingdom and the Sheikhs of the Trucial States signed another treaty that formed a closer relationship between Europe and the present-day region of the United Arab Emirates.  With other foreign countries without first discussing it with the United Kingdom, the United Kingdom then promised to provide military support to the sheikhs if necessary.

 Throughout the mid-twentieth century, there were several border disputes between the United Arab Emirates and neighboring countries, and in addition to this in 1968 the United Kingdom decided to terminate the treaty with the Trucial Sheikhs, as a result of which the Trucial Sheikhs along with Bahrain and Qatar (which are also protected by the United Kingdom) tried to form  union, but they could not agree with each other so in the summer of 1971 Bahrain and Qatar became independent states, and in the same year the sheikhs became independent when the treaty with the United Kingdom expired, and on December 2, 1971, six of the sheikhs of the former eastern emirates formed the United Arab Emirates  Now, in 1972, Ras Al Khaimah joined them.

 Today, the United Arab Emirates is considered a federation of seven emirates, and in the country there is a federal president and a prime minister who constitute its executive branch, but each emirate also has a separate ruler (called an emir) who controls the local government, and the legislative branch of the United Arab Emirates consists of the Federal National Council with a council  Al-Wahid, and its judicial branch consists of the Supreme Court of the Union, and the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Sharjah, Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah and Umm al-Quwain.

 The United Arab Emirates is one of the richest countries in the world that has a high per capita income. The economy of the United Arab Emirates depends on oil, but recently the government has started programs to diversify its economy. Today, the main industries in the United Arab Emirates are oil, petrochemicals, fishing, aluminum, cement, fertilizers, repair  Merchant ships, building materials, boat building, handicrafts and textiles.

 Agriculture is also important within the country and the main products produced are dates, various vegetables, melons, poultry, eggs, dairy products and fish, and tourism and related services are also a large part of the UAE economy.

 The United Arab Emirates is part of the Middle East and is located in the Arabian Peninsula, and it has a diverse terrain and in the eastern parts of it, but most of the rest of the United Arab Emirates consists of flat lands, sand dunes and large desert areas, and in the east there are mountains and the highest point in the United Arab Emirates  United is located at the top of Mount Yber, which has a height of about 5,010 feet, or about 1,527 meters.

 Climate The UAE has a desert climate although it is cooler in the eastern regions at higher elevations, the UAE has a hot and dry climate all year round, and Abu Dhabi, the country's capital, has a low temperature and the average January temperature is around 54°F (12.2°C)  The average temperature in August is around 102°C (39°C), and Dubai is slightly hotter in summer with the average temperature in August being 106°F (41°C).
